Mission statement/Our values

At The Safer Food Group, we are driven by a commitment to education, safety, and positive change. We believe that education is a powerful tool which can transform workplaces and communities, and we strive to use our expertise to improve the world around us. Through our courses, we deliver trusted, practical training that helps food professionals excel in their roles while keeping consumers safe. We also believe that education provides competence and confidence, both of which create safer, more positive teams and working environments. Finally, we believe that education provides opportunities and we strive to lend our support to community groups and projects who improve lives through food and training initiatives. For instance, following the launch of 'Together: Our Community Cookbook', we supported the Hubb community kitchen and The Royal Foundation by donating a broad range of training courses. The kitchen was created in response to the Grenfell Tower disaster, and continues to transform lives and communities through cooking and sharing food.

Our expertise

We know how important the training we deliver is. This is why we pride ourselves on the expertise which we put into our courses, ensuring the highest degree of accuracy for our customers. Across our team, we have more than 50 years of experience in the food safety training industry. This knowledge is shared not only by our course writers but also by our whole team, meaning each and every one is in the best possible position to help our customers. We also have experience on the other side of the aisle, with many of our staff having had prior roles in the food and hospitality industry. This means we know what our customers want, as well as need. This is further supported by our collaborators who themselves are industry leaders and experts, such as the Early Years Alliance, consultant EHOs and Health and Safety experts. This in-depth sector knowledge has allowed us to thoroughly and accurately tailor our courses to specific sectors and contexts. Across our leadership team, we have experience teaching up to degree level as well as course design, both of which prove invaluable in creating the perfect courses. Finally, as well as teachers, we are also learners. We pride ourselves on keeping up-to-date with the latest best practices both in the sectors for which we teach and for teaching methods themselves, ensuring that our courses continue to meet the highest standards.

The team behind our courses

Who writes and delivers our training

CG

Clare Grantham

Course & Content Writer

Clare leads on writing our courses, turning food safety regulation and best practice into learning materials people actually take in. A postgraduate education background and a university staff-development role mean every module is built around how learners absorb and apply information — not just what the law says. Her early years in catering and hospitality keep the content grounded in the day-to-day reality of food handlers and business owners, so what we teach lands on the kitchen floor as clearly as it does on screen.

PG

Paul Grantham

Food Safety Trainer, Educator & Consultant

Paul is the technical backbone of our course content. Fifteen-plus years of food safety auditing, HACCP and management-system design feed directly into what we teach, so the material stands up to real EHO scrutiny. Decades across hospitality and retail mean he writes for the pressures of a working kitchen, while his university lecturing shapes how that expertise is sequenced and delivered. He keeps every course technically accurate, current, and genuinely useful to operators of any size.

JG

Jonny Green

Lecturer & Educator — Digital Learning

Jonny shapes how our courses are delivered online. With a background lecturing in web technologies, he combines hands-on digital knowledge with a real understanding of how people learn — the thinking behind our online-first approach. He focuses on making course delivery accessible, engaging and easy to follow, so learners reach the same standard whatever device they're on and whatever their starting point.
